Even More True Tales
Of Northern Coromandel

Introduction

The Coromandel Town History Research Group Inc. Has over the past 10 years, been aware of the importance of recording the history of this area, especially through peoples own true experiences and the part they and their families have played in shaping the Northern Peninsula.

Almost 70 competition entrants, and eight past and present committee members, have revealed their fascinating recollections in this book. The entries were of a very high standard and a joy to read.

This has made it a daunting task for our two judges, when endeavouring to reach their decision as to the winners of this competition.

Our committee has enjoyed the tasks required to bring this collections to fruition and are very grateful for the help given by others with promotional needs and support.

The launch of this book by “New Zealand Memories” editor, Wendy Rhodes, on 22 October 2010 will complete the trilogy with over 250 true tales of Northern Coromandel, helping us to commemorate the 10th anniversary since our first publication.

My thanks go to the marvellous committee, who have worked so diligently over the years, to all entrants who have made this publication possible and my good wishes go to the readers who will better understand our colourful past.
